It would appear the initial knee-jerk reaction to Todd Akin’s abortion mistake a few weeks back in finally over. It appears, since Akin stopped his apology tour, and instead started talking to the voters of Missouri about issues important to them and their families, that the voters are responding favorably to what they’re hearing. The voters are being reminded of Claire McCaskill’s lock-step voting record with President Obama, and that’s not the way to longevity in politics, at least in Missouri.
A recent poll conducted has brought encouraging news to the Akin camp, and they utilized the results with this image:
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch had this story about former Speaker Newt Gingrich offering his support for Congressman Akin. Gingrich offered his support made his proclamation on Meet The Press; a sizable national audience.
The Washington Post simply cannot fathom that people would still be supporting Akin. Fortunately, the writers for the Post don’t vote in Missouri, their scorn and ridicule matters not.
Finally, from Yahoo News comes several tidbits from around Missouri as to Todd Akin’s status. Congressman Akin is going to be fine. He’s going to be in the US Senate race until the end. As a sign of this, the Akin campaign recently hired Rick Tyler, a former aide to Speaker Gingrich, to head up its communications efforts. Tyler is a very sharp guy and this was a great addition for the Akin team.
